Associate Producer of Apple TV+ Long Way Up
My name is Taylor Estevez and I am the Associate Producer of an Apple TV+ adventure series. Starting in the fall of 2019 in Argentina, we had traversed, by land, most of south and central America before arriving in Mexico. Due to the extremely spontaneous nature of our production, I found myself in an advanced splinter unit in Oaxaca, a handful of cash and very specific production needs, mainly, to find a vehicle that shouldn’t exist there and crew to outfit it in a way that nobody ever has. We already had two fixers working for us in Mexico but again, as the production had unexpectedly split up, it was an absolute stroke of luck that our previous Guatemalan producers had Michael Matus’ number and even luckier that Michael was available.
From small detail oriented requests to big picture concepts, he was on top of all of it
Within in a matter of hours of our first meeting, Michael had sourced the vehicle and a 24 hour access workshop, assembled a production crew and another crew to build the vehicle to spec. Over the cours of the next few days, Michael organized the shoot and the build, coordinated dozens of people, handled tens of thousands of dollars and all in all, made it happen.
These were long days and lots of stress but Michael made what should have been an impossible task look easy, all the while being an absolute pleasure to work with.
Having met and worked with over a dozen local producers on this production, I highly recommend taking advantage of the opportunity to work with Michael Matus.
Please feel free to reach out if there are any questions.
Cheers,
Taylor Estevez
